Lately I have had a bit of an obsession with Acai berry bowls (fruit and anything icy cold have both been favourites of mine throughout my pregnancy). This dish is so simple to make and can create such a simple yummy breakfast or snack. I have kept this recipe really simple however feel free to top with nuts, seeds and anything else you desire.
Did you know that Acai powder is made from a berry that comes from Central and South America? Acai berries are full of antioxidants, they have an impressive nutrient profile and are a great source of vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, E, calcium, magnesium and zinc. They even have as much vitamin c as blueberries.
Acai berries can also assist with heart health, digestion and boost your immune system.
I hope you enjoy this super simple recipe.
What you need:
1 tsp of Acai powder
1.5 frozen bananas
1 cup frozen mixed berries (I used a mix of strawberries, blueberries and raspberries)
1 tablespoon of chia seeds
4 ice cubes
¼ cup water
(I have chosen to top with coconut flakes but feel free to use a variety of nuts and seeds to boost the nutrient profile)
What you need to do:
Pop all ingredients into a high powered blender and blend until smooth.
Top with your preferred ingredients.
